About Us

The Michigan Small Business & Technology Development Center™ (MI-SBTDC™) network provides a full range of services for a variety of small businesses that are emerging and growing throughout Michigan – including new venture companies, existing small businesses, expanding businesses, new technology companies, and innovators.

The State Headquarters, located at Grand Valley State University, supports 12 regional offices and over 30 satellite offices, each providing counseling and training to small business owners and entrepreneurs throughout the 83 counties in Michigan.

The MI-SBTDC network is a grassroots advocate for small business working in partnership with local resources to grow and strengthen companies. New ventures, in particular, may be unfamiliar with funding sources and support services. The MI-SBTDC works hard throughout the state to uncover opportunities and build relationships with organizations that can provide the extra assistance that makes a real difference to entrepreneurs.

Services Available

Counseling

One-on-one meetings to build viable business plans, establish strategies for growth and survival, create practical marketing approaches, deal with unexpected challenges, generate realistic financial goals and much more.

Training

Fundamentals classes covering Starting a Business, Writing a Business Plan, Business Legal Issues, Finance and others are offered on a regular basis. Other programs including FastTrac New Venture, HR School, and Fiscal Fitness are offered on a periodic basis.

Research

MI-SBTDC provides a full range of research capabilities including size and characteristics of industries, marketplace, competition, customer demographics through Grand Valley State. The Livingston SBTDC also partners with programs, research and information through all Livingston county libraries.
