About Us

Our Mission
The Livingston County Small Business & Technology Development Center (SBTDC) strives to enhance the economic well being of the County of Livingston and the State of Michigan by providing counseling, training, research, and advocacy for new ventures and existing small businesses. The results of these efforts will positively impact the overall economy and community well being by strengthening existing companies, creating new jobs, retaining existing jobs, and assisting companies in defining their path to success.

Who We Are

The SBTDC program is sponsored by, and partially funded by, the Small Business Administration (SBA). In an effort to help businesses start, grow, and prosper, the SBA cultivates partnerships with resources across the state to meet the needs of small businesses in every community. These resource partners work at the grassroots level to assist small businesses through counseling, training and research.

The MI-SBTDC headquarters are located out of Grand Valley State University. The Livingston SBTDC is a satellite office of Region 8 operating out of Lansing Community College.

The Livingston SBTDC provides no cost, confidential business counseling, training, accountant, attorney and other network referrals to support small business, and access to business tools and further training provided through the SBTDC network. Preparation and use of business and marketing plans are a major focus of this center.

Nancy Johnson, Director, completed the Business Counselor Certification Program sponsored by the MI-SBTDC, Michigan Department of Commerce and Wayne State University in 1990. She was again certified through the Academy of Small Business Consultants at Grand Valley State University in partnership with the MI-SBTDC, MEDC, and SBA in 2008.

We are a partnership program with the U.S. Small Business Administration. This Cooperative Agreement is partially funded by the U.S. Small Business Administration. SBA's funding is not an endorsement of any products, opinions or services. All SBA funded programs are extended to the public on a nondiscriminatory basis.
